Admiring the disabled armless mother is an encouragement and a perfect almighty mother

When it comes to overcoming adversity and achieving one’s dreams, Dejana Backo stands as a remarkable example. Backo, an accomplished athlete and artist, has defied seemingly insurmountable odds by pursuing her athletic aspirations despite living without arms. Her inspiring journey highlights the significance of self-discovery, empowerment, and defying limitations. Today, Backo utilizes her platform to raise awareness about living with disabilities and inspire countless individuals. Explore her remarkable story below.

Born in 1994 in Novi Sad, Serbia, Backo entered the world without arms. However, from a tender age, she possessed an unwavering determination to not let this circumstance hinder her progress. Even as a young child, she questioned her mother about her lack of arms. As she matured, she found solace in accepting her disability and refused to let it define her identity. This outlook became instrumental in leading a fulfilling life unhindered by adversity. Strengthening her self-belief and confidence, she excelled as both an artist and an athlete, earning recognition for her exceptional talent and indomitable spirit.

Not only is Backo renowned for her zest for life in the public eye, but she also shares a beautiful relationship with her partner, a fitness instructor. Together, they express their love on social media, embarking on numerous adventures and exploring new places.

At the age of 9, Backo joined the Mouth and Foot Painters Society, an early motivation that propelled her artistic aspirations. She obtained her degree from the Design Art School in 2014 and subsequently pursued further studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad. As a widely recognized artist, she has held solo exhibitions in over 20 cities across the Balkans.

Dubbed the “girl with wings,” Backo has become an emblem of hope, empowerment, and perseverance throughout Serbia. Her impact extends not only from her artistic career but also through her impressive accomplishments in athletics. She became the first armless athlete in Serbia to claim the world championship in para taekwondo, a feat achieved at the 2019 World Para Taekwondo Championship held in Turkey.

Continuing to exemplify the boundless possibilities of a fulfilling life with disabilities, Backo fearlessly embraces her next milestone. In 2023, she became a mother, welcoming her first child with her partner. Fully devoted to this new chapter, she has decided to temporarily step away from sports, thereby missing the opportunity to compete in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

Even during her break from sports, Backo remains an active inspiration to her followers through social media. She emphasizes that all individuals with disabilities face challenges, but with a strong sense of self-worth and a clear understanding of their own identity, they can rise above the negatives and focus on the positives.
